…I do want to say how much I have enjoyed my time at La Puerta Life Center. I am so uplifted by the people, the love and enthusiasm that has been shown to me, by your energy, through Pastor Abraham’s messages, and the presence of God. There is a lovely presence at the church and I am so thankful to have found comfort there. Thanks to you and your husband for your part in that. See you soon.

One Person Can Make a Difference

Ezekiel was living in a messed up culture. Government, religious leaders, and even the common people all had strayed from what was right. Society in general had become selfish and immoral. The wall of righteousness had a big hole in it; and judgment, the consequence of sin, was about to rush in. God looked around for one person who would be willing to take a stand and make a difference. He found no one. (Ezekiel 22:30)

Today, we live in a messed up culture. Selfishness and immorality have left a big whole in our wall. God is looking for one person to stand in the gap, to make a difference. You are that one person. Stand up. Now.

Seeing the Invisible

Does anything exist beyond my physical perception? Does the fact that I cannot see something mean that it isn’t real? We believe in and cling to invisible notions such as love and hope all the time. The spiritual world is just as real as the physical or emotional. Moses, the heroic icon of both the Christian and Jewish faiths, found his strength and his success by connecting to that invisible reality (Hebrews 11:27 NLT).

Today, as you go about living in this visible world, set aside some quiet time and try to see this Invisible One. When you spend quiet time in prayer you begin to shift from physical perception – your 5 senses, to spiritual perception – your Faith. Talk to God, just like you would talk to a friend, and ask Him to make all of this clear to you. After a while, you’ll begin to notice that you have a better perception of life. It’s like living in the physical world with the added sense of “seeing” the Invisible One. Sound weird? Try it.

Body Building – Sore Muscles

After a good workout, we usually experience soreness and discomfort. Working muscles hard actually causes their fibers to tear. This is the cause of the discomfort. Our body is designed to rebuild these torn fibers. The new, rebuilt muscle is always stronger than the original.

As you work out your relationship with God and obediently submit to change in your personal life, there is a tearing in your moral fiber. Discomfort and uneasiness often follow, but remember that God heals and rebuilds. Your resulting moral fiber will be stronger, healthier, and more mature.

He Was, I Am – Video

Jesus will never ask you to go somewhere that He hasn’t been before. This also applies to loving Him. We love Him because He loved us first (1John 4:19 NIV).

Nowhere was this love more evident than at the Cross. Because of love, He took upon Himself every punishment that I deserved (Isaiah 53:5 NCV). He died a horrible death so that I could live a better life. He died that I may live. He was, I am.

Body Building – Better than P90X

We should all remember that while our personal relationship with God is important, our inter-relationships with other believers is equally important. We are all part of a bigger organism called the Body of Christ. Just like weights at the gym, God gives us tools specifically designed to “Build the Body.”

Jesus himself has given us certain gifts (Ephesians 4:11-12 NLT). As leaders, we should use these gifts to bless others. As disciples, we should seek out and associate with good leaders. As we honor these leaders, be it our parents, our pastors, or any other God-ordained authority, we are positioning ourselves in the downstream of empowerment. When we all do this, the whole Body gets built up.

Vote Jesus!

Pontius Pilate offered the angry crowd what he thought was a sure bet. He asked them to chose who would live: Barabbas, the notorious criminal, or Jesus. Surprisingly, many who had recently celebrated Jesus’ Triumphant Entry the previous Sunday, cast their vote against Jesus. Swayed, intimidated, and persuaded by a vocal minority, these people demanded the violent execution of the only One who could offer them a better life.

This Easter Season, be sure to cast your vote for Jesus. Celebrate Him on Sunday, but make sure you vote for Him during the rest of the week.

Spring Cleaning

One spring day, Jesus walked into the Temple (God’s house) and did some aggressive house cleaning (John 2:15). Now, you are God’s house. From time to time, you can benefit from a little “house cleaning.”

Your Heart is Not a Market
“Stop turning my Father’s house into a marketplace!” John 2:16
Don’t approach God with a commercial mindset. Seek a relationship with Him. Envision your heart (His house) on a quiet residential street where you can enjoy quality time together.

Let His Passion Consume You
“Passion for God’s house will consume me.” John 2:17
Jesus’ passion for God’s house consumed Him. Since you are God’s house, He now feels that same passion towards having a relationship with you (James 4:5 NCV). Clean out your house. Get rid of any old, passive, traditional ideas about who God is, and start to pursue Him with same passion with which He has been pursuing you.
